We are currently expanding our project teams for large-scale energy infrastructure projects and are seeking Waste Management Engineers to support the execution of environmentally compliant and efficient waste operations on construction sites across the Attica Region and Northern Greece. This is a hands-on technical role, ideal for engineers passionate about sustainability, circular economy principles, and site-level coordination.
Role Overview
The Waste Management Engineer will be responsible for supervising on-site waste management processes, supporting compliance with legal and environmental standards, and contributing to the effective planning, execution, and continuous improvement of waste operations. Working closely with site managers, HSE teams, and subcontractors, the role ensures that waste streams are properly segregated, documented, and handled throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement waste management plans and procedures at the construction site level.
- Coordinate waste segregation, temporary storage, internal logistics, and disposal activities.
- Support the tracking and documentation of all waste types (hazardous and non-hazardous), including preparation of relevant manifests and reports.
- Assist in the preparation of environmental documentation and reporting to local authorities or project stakeholders.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with waste handling protocols and contractual obligations.
- Identify opportunities for recycling, reuse, or improved disposal routes aligned with circular economy principles.
- Participate in site inspections and audits related to waste management practices.
- Train site personnel and ensure awareness of proper waste handling practices and environmental standards.
- Liaise with the Head of Waste Management and contribute to project-wide waste performance analysis
- Ensure compliance with Greek and EU environmental regulations and internal company policies.
Requirements
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in waste management, environmental engineering, or industrial site operations.
- Previous experience of construction or infrastructure projects will be considered an advantage.
- Exposure to handling hazardous waste and familiarity with relevant transportation and disposal procedures is a plus.
Academic Background & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a relevant scientific/technical discipline.
- Knowledge of Greek waste legislation (e.g., Ν. 4819/2021, ΠΔ 148/2009) is important.
- Certifications in environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001) will be considered a plus.
Languages & Technical Capabilities
- Fluent in Greek and English (written and spoken).
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and able to work with environmental reporting tools.
- Familiarity with digital waste tracking systems or GIS platforms is desirable.
