St. Luke’s School, a secular, college-preparatory day school serving grades 5 through 12 in New Canaan, Connecticut, seeks a full-time Humanities teacher in the Upper School. The ideal candidate will bring experience teaching both Upper School history and English classes. The Upper School Humanities wing includes Harkness tables in each classroom.  Our Upper School includes an Advanced Curriculum, a variety of 12th grade electives, and the opportunity for seniors to participate in a capstone research project as Global or Literary Scholars.  

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Teach 4 classes across the History and English departments.
• Participate in an after-school activity such as athletics or theater for all three seasons. Note that candidates with significant experience in leading Model UN or Debate may be eligible for a reduced teaching course load.   
• Serve as co-advisor for a group of 6 to 8 students.
• Assist with supervisory duties, such as study hall proctoring, lunchroom supervision, and chaperoning events.
