We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior SQL Server Database Engineer to manage and support our Microsoft SQL Server database environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance tuning of SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments. This role requires a deep understanding of SQL Server architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization techniques.
Responsabilities:
- Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances (2016 and above).
- Performance Tuning & Optimization: Analyze and optimize database performance using tools like Query Store, Profiler, Extended Events, and DMVs. Optimize T-SQL queries and indexing strategies.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and manage high availability solutions such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups, log shipping, replication, and failover clustering.
- Security Management: Implement and enforce database security policies including user access controls, encryption, and auditing.
- Backup & Recovery: Design and manage backup strategies, conduct regular restore tests, and ensure adherence to RTO and RPO targets.
- Monitoring & Maintenance: Create and maintain monitoring jobs, alerts, and maintenance plans to ensure database health and performance.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop PowerShell scripts and SQL jobs to automate routine tasks and support DB Ops processes.
- Collaboration & Support: Work closely with Development, DevOps, Performance and Infrastructure teams to support application releases, troubleshoot issues, and provide database expertise.
- Documentation & Standards: Maintain documentation of database environments, procedures, and best practices. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA
- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server 2016 and above, including installation and configuration
- Strong expertise in T-SQL, performance tuning, indexing, and execution plans
- Experience with HA/DR solutions in enterprise environments
- Familiarity with cloud-based databases (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a plus
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSE, Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus
