INTERN - MECHANICATRONIC ENGINEERING

(F/M, 60-100%)

Location: Biopôle, Epalinges, Switzerland

Position Summary

To support Limula in the development of the best possible solution for automated cell therapy manufacturing, we are currently looking for a highly motivated intern to assist the engineering team with day-to-day activities. Limula offers paid internships as a path to potential future positions within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design of components and sub-systems

o    Paper and CAD design of components and sub-systems for a technologically advanced instrument with biotechnology applications ensuring they meet performance & functional requirements.

  • Firmware development

o    Generate low level firmware architecture and code to pilot automated systems.

  • Rapid prototyping using 3D printers, laser cutters and classical workshop tools.

o    Utilize fast prototyping technology to create functional models of mechanical components and sub-systems, facilitating quick iteration and evaluation of design ideas.

  • Design and development of testing and verification procedures.

o    Develop testing procedures to validate the reliability and robustness of novel designs, ensuring their performance under various conditions.

  • Assist in design of advanced mechatronic systems

o    Collaborate with the team to support the design, development and testing of mechatronics systems, combining mechanical and electronic elements to create integrated and functional systems.

Requirements

  • Creative, pro-active, self-motivated, flexible personality, ready to assume a wide variety of tasks are a must taking precedence over your hard skills. Critical thinking, scientific approach to problem solving.
  • Capacity to adjust quickly to changing priorities. Self-starter and maker mentality. Reliable, trustworthy, with a sustained capacity to meet deadlines.
  • Studying for a university degree – or freshly graduated – Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Microtechnology Engineering or equivalent training.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with one or some of the following tools: SolidWorks, KiCAD, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Nucleo boards, is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and Google Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time and to-do lists.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, solution-oriented mentality.
  • Working proficiency in written and spoken English and French. Other languages a plus.
  • Willing and able to work on-site at Biopôle, Lausanne, Switzerland. Part-time remote available.
