 Herdsperson – Derbyshire 

Shift Pattern – 11 days a fortnight with every other Friday off. 

£38,000 – £45,000 per annum, DOE

3-bedroom barn conversion located on the farm

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in the day-to-day running of a dairy herd and leading a team.
  • Foot trimming qualification and experience
  • Demonstrate excellent skills in stockmanship and attention to detail

NOTE – You will be working directly for the farm, not through REAL Success.

Our Farm:

The farm comprises of approximately 550 acres carrying 320 milking cows plus replacements, yielding 7,500 litres on average. The herd currently consists of 320 predominantly Holstein cows with a some cross bred, who are milked twice a day through a 20/40 Fullwood parlour, with Auto ID shedding gates. They are an autumn block calving herd, beginning in late August and grazed from early March until November. All replacements are reared in-house with beef calves sold locally. We have excellent facilities and infrastructure for cow housing, handling, foot trimming and other farm requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring animal health and welfare is the top priority, spotting and treating illnesses
  • Leading a team to ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day dairy operation
  • Milking to a high and consistent standard, keeping the parlour clean and tidy
  • Utilising data and keeping compliance & records up to date
  • Supporting with dry cow management, calving cows and colostrum protocols
  • Liaising with vets, nutritionists, and farm consultants
  • Completing all foot trimming
  • Working alongside the Farm owner to achieve targets and move the farm forward
  • UK Right to Work
  • UK Driving License
  • Foot Trimming qualification is essential
  • AI qualification is preferred
  • Enthusiastic and friendly, with a high attention to detail
