As the FP&A Sr Manager/Director at Umbra, you will be at the forefront of our financial strategy, playing a vital role in guiding the organization’s financial planning and analysis activities. Your expertise will help us navigate the complexities of our growth trajectory while ensuring that our financial resources are utilized effectively to support our ambitious goals.

This role will be located onsite in Arlington, VA or Santa Barbara, CA. Note: our Santa Barbara offices will be moving to Goleta, CA in ~May/June 2025.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Planning

    • Develop and execute the financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling.
    • Provide strategic insights to senior leadership regarding financial performance and market trends to inform decision-making.
    • Collaborate with business leaders to understand their financial needs and align them with organizational objectives.
    • Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate the financial impact of potential business decisions or objectives.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

    • Prepare comprehensive financial analysis to support business initiatives, identifying risks and opportunities.
    • Present financial results and insights to the executive team and assist with preparation of board reporting materials.
    • Directly support business development activities including market sizing, pipeline assessments, government program pricing and profitability analysis.
    • Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes, ensuring accuracy in financial statements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree (MBA) is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to develop and implement financial models.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
  • Experience with financial software and ERP systems
  • Proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Experience with government programs and contracting.
  • Experience in a high-growth company setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the aerospace, satellite, or technology industry is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with market analysis and mergers & acquisitions.
  • 5+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership role.
  • FP&A certification (CMA, CFA) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and techniques to enhance financial reporting processes.

Pay Transparency
This job posting may cover multiple career levels. To ensure greater transparency, we provide base salary ranges for all roles, regardless of location. Our standard pay ranges are based on the role’s function and level, benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Compensation may vary based on geographical location, as certain regions may have different cost-of-living factors. The final offer will also be influenced by the candidate's skills, responsibilities, and relevant experience.

Compensation Range

The Compensation Range for this role is $165,000 - $200,000.
