Purpose of the role:
The Engineering Manager will be primarily responsible for managing a team of developers, with a focus on people management, skills and talent development, career progression, resourcing management, and software development practices.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with the Senior Manager to strategies and plan resourcing, allocate and plan resources for squads and projects, manage recruitment, and develop skills and talent within the team. They will work in partnership with all engineers to develop and implement software development processes, methodologies, and patterns.
The Engineering Manager will also report to the Senior Manager and is responsible for technical domains, supporting the Senior Manager by driving change in delegated areas. This role involves collaborating across the organization on technical management and overseeing the people, practices, and policies that support technical delivery.
A deep understanding of software development and a technical background is required to effectively manage these responsibilities. development methodologies, patterns, and practices, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills. Some hands-on coding may form a part of the role.
