Duties and Responsibilities

The Global Fixed Income and Global Equity Investment teams at Nikko Asset Management Europe (NAME) currently manage over $12 billion in Global Fixed Income and Global Equity Assets. We are looking to add a trader with proven ability in delivering best execution in one or more of the following products including Global Equity, Sovereign bond, global IG and HY, agency mortgages, FX, interest rate swaps, CDS and interest rate futures. We are a small, highly collaborative and collegial team and are open to train the right individual to be capable of trading in any of the products we deal in where they may not have experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Achieve best execution for portfolio management directed trading activity.

• Aid senior traders across all asset classes.

• Participate in team meetings.

• Cultivate relationships with counterparties in support of our access to liquidity and investment idea flow.

• Maintain awareness of market developments, regulations, trading technology and other relevant issues

• Experience with electronic trading platforms and Bloomberg AIM portfolio management and OMS systems.

Specific Functional Duties:

• Execute trades across assets for all Equity and Global Fixed Income PM’s within NAME

• Communicate with sell-side to achieve best execution and source liquidity

• Source relevant news and distribute to the investment team rapidly

• Actively source new issue opportunities and manage process with syndicate

• Foster strong relationships with sell-side sales, traders and internal business units

• Participate in investment meetings and contribute ideas to the process.

Key skills, attributes, and characteristics:

• Strong analytical skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Very proficient in Bloomberg, Trading platforms and Excel. Proficient in Word and PowerPoint.

• Proactive learner with strong intellectual curiosity

• Ability to work both collaboratively as a team member and independently

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Comfortable in a global organisation, where teams from different offices and times zones work together on projects.

Experience and qualifications:

• Circa 3 to 5 years of relevant and similar experience working as a trader or PM at an Asset Management firm in one or more of the specified securities.

• Equity experience strongly preferred.

• Ideally a Bachelor degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics;
